Come work with us:

  • Looking for an exciting opportunity to drive forward the energy transition? ALP-Sustainable Energy is seeking a dynamic international consultant to join our team!

At ALP-Sustainable Energy, we work towards channelling vital private investments for the energy transition by bridging the private and public sectors. We take a big-picture approach, and work with a network of specialists to provide reality-checked solutions for our clients. Please check out our website for more on our service offering, focus areas, track record, credentials, and past projects/clients.

As one of our international consultants, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality services to our clients. Some of the key tasks would be market & policy analysis and proposals, research and modelling, attending client requests, or preparing documents, graphs or presentations, in both English and Spanish. You will work closely with our CEO to bring our service offering to existing clients and to grow our business, via new services and income streams.

Working with ALP-Sustainable Energy is challenging and rewarding, providing you with the opportunity to work on diverse projects of varying lengths and geographies. Occasionally you may travel. You’ll collaborate on projects with clients and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, increasing your understanding of complex energy transition problems from diverse perspectives and developing new skills and experience to help you at every stage of your career—in this job and beyond.

We are also aware of how the world is changing and how new technologies (e.g. AI) could impact the consulting business, so we are adapting our work. Ideally, this is something you are also interested in exploring and engaging with!

Our CEO is committed to work-life balance and believes in a modern arrangement. We started the company with this as a key goal! You will have the flexibility to work from home or from a shared coworking space, with location independence during school holidays. We offer reasonable work hours and 25 days of paid leave per year (pro-rata).

We are a small and dynamic company that want to reward success and, as such, are keen on flexible remuneration structures including profit sharing.

ALP-Sustainable Energy is also committed to sustainability in the workplace. If based in Madrid, you will have the opportunity to work in a sustainable building and minimize your commute with home office. We also offer the possibility of paying for courses or training in exchange for your commitment to the company, and to cover health insurance.

This is initially a part-time position (20 hours per week), but with the potential to evolve into a full-time position as the company grows. Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of a growing project, work on cool projects, and make a real impact!

    -Salary:

Competitive based on profile and with profit-share: we pay for value!

    -Location:

Ideally Madrid (Spain), but also open to remote (probably through a subcontracting arrangement or via a third-party employment service provider).

    -Your profile:

    A) Must-haves:

Training: masters or PhD in engineering, economics, business, sciences; important to have quantitative and analytical skills.

Expertise/training in energy, preferably electricity or renewables.

A few years (min. 3) expertise in strategy (e.g. management consulting, corporate strategy /business development departments) or policy/regulation (e.g. international organisations/institutions, governments, think tanks/academia) or clean energy finance/M&A or sustainability. We are not looking for super narrowly/technically-focused people, but open to those who show big-picture thinking.

English and Spanish, including excellent writing skills (e.g. our reference is The Economist).

    Advanced MS Office user.

Commercial acumen, drive, commitment, client orientation, team-player, proactive/can-do attitude, ability to work with different cultures and under pressure, but also flexibly and independently.

    B) Nice to haves:

Special focus/experience on strategy, transactions, M&A or (green) finance.

Modelling, coding, and data analysis skills with specialised software and/or very advanced Excel.

Specialised training or experience in energy policy/regulation, strategy/planning, energy markets, energy economics or similar.

    Project management, team leadership.

A consulting-oriented skillset: creative and hypothesis-led problem solving, framing and communicating complex ideas, thinking strategically, excellent numerical skills.
